The aim of the project is to support people who are frail aged, disabled or carers in their own home. The project Coordinator carries out a thorough client eligibility assessment before service is provided. An individual's eligibility may not always be obvious but, we do ask you trust our assessment has been made carefully. If you are in any doubt about service requirements please discuss your concerns with the Project Coordinator.
Challenges of the frail aged include loneliness and isolation. Having companionship and assistance with common manual tasks make a huge difference in quality of life. Our support services aim to help around their house and facilitate with community engagement outside the home.
The disabled face very similar barriers in achieving quality of life as the frail aged. Our services help connect the disabled with their community and lower some of the obstacles of living inside their residence.
Carers of either of the above mentioned groups are also supported through the Volunteer Carer Support Program developed under IWNA to specifically target the needs of carers. We aim to help relieve the issues such as the time pressure, social isolation and guilt associated with caring for another.
For those in the community that have difficulty speaking English, please phone the Telephone Interpreter Service on 131 450. Simply state the language you speak and they will contact this service and provide an interpreter, free of charge.
If you experience any problems with the services we provide or the volunteers who have been assigned to assist in the provision of our services, you can make a complaint to IWNA.
